CROP: Good conditions for the development of cultures

Broadly speaking, the rainfall conditions in July 10, 2008, are satisfactory in terms of accumulation and distribution space-time. This is reflected in the latest newsletter of the National Office of Meteorology (ONM), developed in collaboration with the FEWS-Net/Mauritania. The predominant stage for cereal crops is the level of clearance, said the bulletin, which states that in the growing areas rain, operations ploughing, sowing, and seedling have continued through the maintenance of good rainfall conditions and the massive return of several farmers in their homelands. The report notes that in the second half of next decade, FIT will keep a relatively high (north of Nouakchott, Atar and Lemghelty), promoting events pluvlo-storm on the southern, south-east Central and west of the country.

During the first decade of July, the ITF has held a high position on Mauritania, north on 21st parallel, north of Lemgheity, in its eastern part in the vicinity of Nouakchott, in its western part (situation corresponding to its position mid-August 2007).

This position has encouraged the formation of rain-storm homes throughout the south, south-east, north-west and central part of the country.

During this decade, (two rainy days) substantial amounts of rainfall were recorded including Barkéol, Adel Bagrou and Ould Yengé with successively 78 mm, 72 mm and 60 mm.

An analysis of maps of overlapping and anomalies in rainfall, the seasonal total to 10 July 2008, is in surplus compared to the 1971-2000 normal throughout the area of agricultural country, except for a thin band extends from North to Northwest Trarza, northern Brakna, Tagant, and Hodh Echarghi where there is a slight deficit.

Broadly speaking, the rainfall conditions in July 10, 2008, remain satisfactory in terms of accumulation and spatial distribution.

The operations are continuing labour On July 10, the predominant stage for cereal crops has been lifted.

In areas of culture storm-water operations ploughing, sowing and seedling have continued through the maintenance of good rainfall conditions and the return of several mas' farmers in their localities.

The satisfaction index of the water needs of crops remains satisfactory since the beginning of the season, which led to a healthy development of the first planting and low seedling.

A good-Herbaceous vegetation indices observed the first decade of July, show good coverage herbaceous level moughataa Timbédra, Amourj and Djiguéni (Hodh Echarghi), and Tintane Kobéni (Hodh El Gharbi), Kankossa (Assaba) and Sélibaby and Ould Yengé (Guidimagha).

Elsewhere, the installation is still shy with the emergence of pockets of greenery, particularly south-east Gorgol, Brakna and Trarza.

However, with good rainfall observed in previous decades, the situation is favourable to a rapid progression of the front plant to the center of wilayas mentioned.

This situation allows the animals of any kind of grazed without problems. The possibilities of a rainfall deficit are very negligible, which confirms the trends of seasonal forecasts.

According to the prediction models, episodes of very heavy rainfall which might cause floods can not be ruled out. A late demurrage is advisable for farmers.

The FIT will keep "a high position in the second half of next decade, FIT will keep a relatively high (north of Nouakchott, Atar and Lemgheity), promoting events rain-storm on the southern, south - east, central and the west. Increases in temperature will be observed with visibilities reduced by sand in the Adrar, Inchiri, and Tiris Zemour-Dakhlet Nouadhibou.
