Under the theme: "The Emirate of poetry ... the ocean to the Gulf", the first festival of poetry mauritanien began Sunday under the patronage of the President of the High Council of State, Head of State, General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, in the Palais des congrès de Nouakchott.

The festival which lasts 4 days and which involved 25 poets of all Arab countries is to establish contact between Mauritania, opening west of the Arab Nation and the rest of the Arab countries and strengthen the link between all Arab countries.

In a word for the occasion, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Sidi Ould Samba said that his department is on the side of poets and literary heritage to serve the national and Arab, believing that this is a mission that the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will continue to fulfill.

He added that Mauritania (country of one million poets) has always been and remain the top destination for all those interested in literature and the arts, noting that this was manifested through the forums of international cultural 'in general and the assistance of "Emirou Chouara" in a particular way.

The Minister stressed that this festival was of particular interest as expressing solidarity with the very expensive Gaza is leading to the concerns of General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, chairman of the High Council of State, Head of State, government and Mauritanian people with all its political leanings.

For its part, the Emir of poets (Emirou Chouara), the poet Bamba Ould Sidi Mohamed, Executive Chairman of the festival said that the blood of the poem has now mixed with the blood of the martyr in this commemoration in poetry solidarity with the martyrs of the Nation in Gaza.

He stressed the need for Arabic poetry to fully play its role throughout the festival
