The Ministry of Interior: preparatory arrangements for the forthcoming presidential elections  
The Ministry of Interior and Decentralization announced today in the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization announced today in a statement received by the AMI, preparatory arrangements for the presidential election decided in June 2009.

According to the communiqué, the Ministry will review outstanding electoral roll, to be opened by order of the Minister of the Interior and Decentralization and last a month. It will, says the text, all citizens fulfilling the legal requirements and not on the current electoral roll for one reason or another.

The ministry added that this review will also encompass those who had not attained the voting age did not have the national identity card or were unable to stay abroad during the revision of voter in 2007.

"Before the start of this review, it will be a 3rd-oriented administrative census election also will be open by order of the Minister of the Interior and Decentralization and executed by the National Statistics Office," the communiqué .

He explained that data from this census, after treatment and removal of names repeated with the existing data on the current electoral roll revised in 2007, will make a final election to be optimal for the next elections.

The ministry revealed a 3rd disposal to launch a campaign in the general public does not have the papers of civil status and national identity cards to obtain them from the National Office of Vital Statistics and proposed national identity card to the General Directorate of National Security.

The release adds that this campaign, launched on 1st February aware, is to enable citizens to obtain the papers necessary for registration on the electoral register and vote.

With regard to presidential elections, the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization specifies that the first round will take place on Saturday 6 June 2009 and that if a second round will take place on Saturday 20 June 2009, knowing that the same day will also organize a constitutional referendum.

He called on all concerned citizens to come to many offices open for the removal of civil papers and their national identity cards to enable them to identify and to register in time, on the electoral register in order to vote and perform their civil duty.
