The Council of ministers has met on Thursday 11 September 2008 under the chairmanship of General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, President of the High Council of State, Head of State.
The Council examined and approved the following Proposals of law
- Proposal of law authorizing the ratification of the loan agreement signed on 2 July 2008 in Nouakchott between the government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Arabic Funds for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), for the financing of Draft 'Emergency Drinking Water and Electricity Nouakchott;
- Proposal of law approving an amendment extending the production-sharing contract for oil in Block 9 of Taoudeni Basin between our country and society "Exploración Repsol SA;
- Proposal of law approving an amendment extending the production-sharing contract for oil in Block 10 of Ta Taoudeni Basin between our country and society "Exploración Repsol SA;
- Proposal of law authorizing the ratification of the aviation agreement between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the State of Qatar.
The board also considered and adopted the draft decrees:
- Draft decree to amend certain provisions of the decree 2008-149 of 22 July 2008 on the composition of the Economic and Social Council.
- Draft decree on the tax regime applicable to projects conducted by the Institution for Rehabilitation and Renovation of the City of Tintane (ERRT).
President of the High Council of State, Head of State reiterated his instructions in terms of sound management, transparency and monitoring of the management of public resources.
In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the fight against trafficking in influence, especially in the implementation of development projects and programs to be carried out to benefit only beneficiary communities.
The interest of the people must prevail in the conduct of government action.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation presented a paper on the international situation.
The Minister of the Interior and Decentralization presented a paper on the domestic situation.
