The minister said in Nouakchott Monday during the opening ceremony of the major symposium organized by the Association of Imams that his department will spare no effort to assist the Imams in their noble mission, including the guidance of prayers, the education and strengthening social peace and preserving the cultural identity of the country.
For his part, Imam Cheikh Ould Cheikh Ahmed, president of the Association of Imams of mosques has indicated that the situation in the Arab and Islamic countries requires the combined efforts of all to promote Islamic values and rehabilitate the foundations civilization.
"This is the best way to close ranks to confront the challenges facing the nation," he said, adding that the association has supported 720 mahadra, introduced a pilot mahadra for girls in Nouakchott and reserved wages and benefits for tens of Imams. He added that the association has effectively contributed to raising awareness and mobilization against the outrageous and extremism.
During the symposium one day 200 imams from the 9 moughataa Nouakchott follow lectures presented successively by Sheikh Mohamed Salem Ould Abdel Wedoud on the role of academic Imam, Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ahmed Youra, on the role the Imam on sermons and Mohamed EL Hacen Ould Dedew on the social role of the Imam.
